Notes:
I have seen a number of references to this show being secret, a surprise, or unadvertised, but beck.com at least gave away tickets to it 3 weeks earlier, so it couldn't have been that secret. Also there were posters for it (see below), and some media coverage.
First couple of songs were solo, band came out for "Cyanide Breath Mint" and I assume the entire rest of the show.
"Guess I'm Doing Fine" was cut short, Beck calling it "too pathetic." A week later he'd go cut start recording Sea Change.
Live debut of "Lost Cause"!
First "Beechwood Park" too, which would become a semi-regular cover for Beck. First "Grow Fins" also, but that would never become a semi-regular.
Not clear what R. Kelly songs were done, but one review noted it was a medley of them.
Beck's band was JMJ (bass), Smokey (guitar) and Jon Brion (keys & drums). However, if this night was anything like the one they were rehearsing for the next night, they did a lot of instrument swapping.
