Beck was a part of Summersault Festival, a roving festival that went around Australia around the new year in 1995/1996. I believe he played each show solo acoustic, usually between Sonic Youth and Beastie Boys.
One report I read said that the Beastie Boys pulled "every artist" on stage at midnight for the stroke of New Year's. I assume Beck was up there for whatever they did!
