Notes:
Originally scheduled for the Estacada Timber Bowl, but moved. (See posters below.) This show was held just outside Portland and was a one-time bill that had a killer lineup: Sonic Youth as a co-headliner, Built To Spill, Sneaker Pimps, and (a later addition to the gig) Elliott Smith.
There is a very good audience recording of the show.
"Novacane" and "Burnt Orange Peel" make a heavy combo, but Beck tells them all to stop moshing afterwards anyway ("moshing was played out in 1992!"). This being near the end of the very long Odelay tour (just a couple official tour gigs left), I do think the band's energy lags occasionally. They do click it into high gear a few times though: "Novacane," a trippy turntable-heavy "Beercan," and an always-epic sleazy "Makeout City" jam.
Beck begins both "Debra" and "Where It's At" with some shouts of "I want to defy the logic of all sex laws!". This is, I believe, the earliest recorded time I've heard him do this. (I doubt "Sexx Laws" has even been written at this point. It's just an insane line he's borrowing from Ol' Dirty Bastard. Midnite Vultures is over a year away from even beginning being recorded.)
Beck does a short acoustic set, which includes "Asshole" at someone's request, "I Get Lonesome," and "One Foot." "I got a bug crawling on my crotch," he tells the audience. "The bugs are friendly here in Oregon... going for the organ."
