Date: August 30, 1997
Event: Bumbershoot Festival
Leg: Odelay North American Tour 7
Venue: Memorial Stadium
City: Seattle
State: Washington
Country: United States
Notes:
Beck's almost-solid 15 months of touring behind Odelay comes to a climax as the headliner of the giant Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. He was THE star on the lineup, and best I can tell, one of the first times he was the name at the top of a festival bill. (He'd been close to the top but usually one or two above him.) Ironically, there were only a couple of shows left on the Odelay tours.
The headliners of the other days were Foo Fighters (who also had a mini-Nirvana reunion with Pat Smear and Kris Novoselic), Soul Coughing, and Blues Traveler. But those names bely all the huge names that played throughout the days: David Byrne, Sleater-Kinney, Peter Buck, just to name a few.
Reports of this show seem focused on that Beck's set got insanely crowded, with lots of crowd control problems and crazy excitement.
