Erotic City [Live version (a)]:

[From February 14 2003 version]

All of my purple life
I've been looking for a dame
That would wanna be my wife
That was my intention, babe

If we cannot make babies
Maybe we can make some time
Thoughts of pretty u and me
Erotic City come alive
We can funk until the dawn
Making love until cherry's gone
Erotic City come alive
Thoughts of pretty u and me

Everytime I comb my hair
Thoughts of you get in my eyes
I don't ???
I just want your creamy thighs

If we cannot make babies
Maybe we can make some time
Thoughts of pretty u and me
Erotic City come alive
We can funk until the dawn
Making love until cherry's gone
Erotic City come alive
Thoughts of pretty u and me

The Song:

"Erotic City" is originally a Prince song, a b-side for "Let's Go Crazy" in 1984.

Beck, having added a bit of Prince's "Raspberry Beret" to some sets in August 2002, started to do some of "Erotic City" in his "Funk medley" of 2003.

Beck continued to play this medley a few more times in the winter of 2003. They took this arrangement over to Australia and closed some shows with it there. This lasted throughout 2003 for the most part. One notable non-medley attempt was on February 14, 2003, where Beck and his band played it in full (and clearly had a blast doing so).

In 2006 there were a few other medley reports of "Erotic City" as well. Not as complete as the early 2003 versions, but still fun to hear.

I assume this was played a little more than we know, due to the fact that it normally appears in medleys and isn't on setlist reports unless I can hear the bootleg (or the reporter knows it).

Post-2006, I am only aware of the song being dropped in one other time: during a "Where It's At" medley on May 1, 2016. Right before that night's "Where It's At," Beck and the band played "Raspberry Beret" by itself -- it was Beck's first concert after Prince had passed away. Then, during band introduction/medley, they jammed on "Erotic City" early, and then "1999" a bit later.
