The Song:
"Born Of Whiskey" is the name of a song Beck played on with the band, Loser back in the early 1990s. We have two versions of the song.
First, a 1992 Demo tape that Beck was half filled with his own songs, and half with Loser tracks. The first of the Loser tracks is "Born Of Whiskey." We refer to this version as the demo version.
The second version of the song was released on the DVD soundtrack to the film Kill The Moonlight. The original CD release did not have any Loser songs, but the re-release on DVD had three. Kill The Moonlight was directed by Steve Hanft, who was the leader of Loser.
The two versions are subtly different in some spots.

Notes:
- When the 1992 Demo with the Loser songs was circulated, it was only with homemade titles. This song was referred to as "Pour The Whiskey," which we now know was a mishearing (thanks to the rerelease of Kill The Moonlight).
- Also note that the phrase "born of whiskey" appears in the song "Whiskey Be Your Lover.

Loser was an early band Beck was in with Steve Hanft, they played metal grunge punk songs.
Three of their songs are on the DVD for Kill The Moonlight (a film directed by Steve): "Born Of Whiskey," Dad Came Home," and "Fish Bait."
Also we have a short tape of some of their songs including: "Trash Can," "Backwash Mother," "Back Of My Hand," "Stevie Nicks Licked Me," "Falling Off A Cliff," "Carburetor," and "The Fucking Train."
