Pop Montreal was a series of concerts over a 3-week span. This Beck/Islands show was considered opening night.

Opening act, Islands, had met Beck at a dinner party when they were known as Unicorns. He asked them to open for him, and this was the first Islands gig. A few weeks later, he would ask them to open some more shows in southern California. Besides doing some remixes for Guerolito, on their own, they went on to some pop success.
