Date: October 25, 2002
Leg: Sea Change Tour with Flaming Lips, First Leg
Venue: Palace Theatre
City: Cleveland
State: Ohio
Country: United States
Notes:
Show #28 of the Sea Change tours.
Show #8 of Beck/Flaming Lips tour.
Everything before "The Golden Age" was part of Beck's solo acoustic set.
Everything after "The Golden Age" was with the Lips (except "Nobody's Fault").
Tour debut "Nicotine & Gravy."
Only "Totally Confused" on Lips tour.
Beck opens the show with a short minute-long tune about Cleveland.; "Lonesome Whistle" is also just the first verse/chorus, about a minute long.; "Rowboat" is also shortened to just the first verse/chorus.!; Beck plays a rare "Totally Confused" after hearing a voice shout for it in the audience. Alas, it too is just a minute long. Beck really has a short attention span tonight! He's very restless. He starts to wonder what to play ("The Humpty Dance"? something with his robot voice?), but then just kicks off the Lips portion of the show.; One of the shorter, more straight-forward "Where It's At"s of the tour (i.e., no medleys of other songs, harmonica solos, etc.).; First performance of "Nicotine & Gravy" with the Lips. Sounds pretty decent, but later versions improve. They're starting to get a good balance of the gentle Sea Change stuff with the funky Vultures and Odelay material.;
