Beck reminisced about this show in 2003 during a totally unrelated concert in Hoboken. He started talking about how hard it was for some Midnite Vultures tour crowds to sometimes get up and dance and have fun (inconceivable, I know). So Beck remembered how some front row people in Scotland stayed seated, even after he'd got the whole crowd going. Beck tried to egg them up! "Get up!" So Beck decided to jump in there and get with them. He just thought they were being hard-asses. And then the band starts running into the audience too! This turned the crowd into a whole melee. But the kids in the front stayed seated! A few minutes later, backstage, the band was trying to figure out, and felt bad for attacking the audience, but the Vultures tour was a melee anyway so they were ok with it.

So later they ride the bus into London, and wake up late, and the drummer found out that the kids seated were crippled. "We've all done things we must forgive ourselves for," was Beck's apology a few years later.
