Notes:
This show was originally supposed to take place back in January, right after the Town Hall show in New York. They were to be the only 2 Mutations shows in the US. However, Joey Waronker (Beck's drummer) was sick and the show was postponed until May 6.
The Vegas Sun reported this:
"Tropicana publicist Hillary Smoot said that although other more likely venues would have liked to have snagged the concert, Beck actually contacted the Tropicana first.
"Beck choose the Trop because he wanted to play in a classic, Las Vegas, traditional theater," she enthused. "He really liked the (idea) of getting back to traditional Las Vegas and that's what we are."
On a personal note, I won tickets to this gig from beck.com. I drove out from LA and had a total blast. It was a very memorable gig, to see basically an Odelay-style show in such a tiny venue. Tenacious D opened, and this was when they were still relatively unknown, and set the mood for the whole night.
There is a good sounding bootleg of this show, and it is highly recommended.
