Notes: A typhoon having killed his appearence at the first Fuji Rock Festival in 1997, Beck returned to headline in 1998 ("we missed you last year, we conquered the elements"). Beck began recording his next album, Midnite Vultures in July 1998, and this Japan concert was a little one-night break from recording.
Since it was a festival set, the setlist focused on rocking out, mostly. Unfortunately, they didn't preview any Vultures (besides "Debra" but that was pretty well-known by this point), and there is one Mutations song (which comes out in a couple of months).
Overall, this is a remarkably uninteresting show, with very little unique to it. Sound quality is ok, not great. Setlist has nothing notable. Beck's stage talk is the usual. There's no acoustic set. (Of course, an unremarkable Beck show is still pretty killer.)
Also the audio I listened to isn't as good quality as the video clips on YouTube.
