Notes:
Beck's first show after Colors was released was a small hometown gig in Los Angeles. The concert was a high energy, hits-based event, but the new Colors songs filled it out. The show felt like it had sections: began with the blues rock hits, heavy yet funky. (Beck called it "Hollywood grime".) Then a short quieter set, Sea Change and Morning Phase stuff (both recorded nearby the venue, and sounded lovely in the outdoor air). Next, the four "Colors" songs... the band has control of "Dreams" by now, "Wow" and "Up All Night" were popular with the crowd. "Colors" is very close to being a showstopper, but as the second performance, maybe not quite there just yet. Then lastly, the closers ("Loser," "E-Pro," "Where It's At"). Beck spontaneously threw "Debra" into the "Where It's At" medley, throughout which he didn't seem to want to stop - they kept doing more and more of each song, Jason almost singing a full version of "American Girl" for instance.
