Notes:
This was Beck's first show open to the general public since March 2009 (2.5 years!!). It was a warm-up gig of sorts for an appearance at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit concerts the weekend after. It was a small cozy theatre, of just 850 seats. The band did the first 11 songs as an acoustic set, and the last 11 as an electric one.
Live debut of "Pocahontas," a Neil Young song.
I've watched 8-9 of the songs, mostly from the electric set, which were videoed and put on youtube by a fan. None of the arrangements or anything were drastically different than we've known in the past.
The band, though, was strong and having a blast. The songs sound muscular, energetic. The chemistry between JMJ, Joey, Roger who have toured so much in the past with Beck cannot be denied; Jason Falkner has not been on stage with them as much (a few times only), but he has been an underrated part of some of Beck's records. So unlike other bands which had to grow into something memorable, this one was there right away. They feel right.
