Lyrics:God Don't Never Change [Version (a)]:
He's God
God don't never change
He's God
Always will be God
God in the middle of the ocean
God in the middle of the sea
By the help of the great creator
Well He's truly been a God to me
He's God
God don't never change
He's God
Always will be
God in a time of sickness
God in a time of Satanists
God in a time of influenza
And he truly was a God to you
'Cause He's God
God don't never change
He's God
Always will be God
God way up from the pulpit
God waiting at the door
God down by the freeway
God lying on the floor
He's God
God don't never change
He's God
Always will be God
The Song:"God Don't Never Change" is originally a Blind Willie Johnson song.
Beck's cool cover can be found on an old tape from 1990, which appears to be an informal recording of friends getting together and singing songs. Near the end, Beck plays a short series of three Blind Willie Johnson songs. Even at an early age, he was quite adept at acoustic delta blues.
Beck doesn't do the entirety of Johnson's song here, skipping some verses, and a few lines are changed. But that was the nature of most of the songs he did on this tape.
