Lyrics:Only One Good Thing Left To Do [Version (a)]:
High road so low
Take a high road out of here
Got a damnation in my soul
Don't take much to the rock and roll
Only one good thing left to do
Is say goodbye to that long-haired flunky Sue
One dollar, one dollar fifteen cents
I got one dollar, it just won't do
If there ain't a subway for fifteen cents
Could go jump a turnstile and climb the fence
Only one good thing left to do
Is say goodbye to my long-haired flunky Sue
Hot dog and pizza
Hot dog, that's my food
Well, I'm a right-hand man using my left
I know I'm going blind, man, 'cause I'm already deaf
Only one good thing left to do
Is say goodbye to my long-haired flunky
Firecracker, rocket ship
I got a firecracker, get me out of here
They got me walking like a candy cane
Like a buzzard flying with a ball and chain
Only one good thing left to do
Is say goodbye to my long-haired
The Song:"Only One Good Thing Left To Do" can be found on an old tape from around 1990. It seems to be a recording of an informal gathering of friends, singing songs.
Most songs on the tape are old folk covers, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and the like. This song, though sounding like a sped-up, strummed version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," is likely a young Beck original. There are some fun lines in it!
Actual title is unknown, this one is given to it by me.
