Lyrics:
(Hep-Hep!) The Jumpin' Jive [Version (a)]:

Jailbird Joe was sitting high
Eighteen miles above the sky
Three quarts of beer and a jug of wine
C'mon baby won't you see me jump
C'mon baby won't you watch me jump
??
I get my kicks on the mellow side

Now look, don't you be no ickaroo
Oh baby you're just a fool
Do me like you used to do
C'mon, jive me mama like you used to do
I get my kicks on the mellow side
(scat singing)
Jive me mama like you used to do
I get my kicks on the mellow side
Na na na

The Song:

"Jumpin' Jive" is an old swing song, famous by Cab Calloway.

Beck can be heard covering it on an old tape from 1990 or so, which was informally recorded at what sounds like a little gathering of friends to sing some songs.

Beck plays it on his acoustic guitar, and doesn't seem to know the words all that well, but gets through it ok. It's one of the more interesting pieces on the tape.
