The Song:
Air is a French duo who play a sort of electronica lounge pop. "Sexy Boy" is an awesome rock song from their album Moon Safari. It's got a ton of great synthesizers and keyboards. They came to Beck for the remix, and he had been in a heavy Serge Gainsbourg French period, so jumped at the chance to work with them.
Beck though took the song in a more electronic collage direction. Opening with sound effects of someone eating chips, Beck plays the bass riff on a deep synth pad and brings it to the front. By the end, Beck adds a boatload more effects -- some voices about a spaceship, bells, xylophone, grunts -- but for the most part, the song has been stripped down to just a few synthesizer sounds and the vocals.
On KCRW in 2001, Beck called his version the "West Coast G-funk version."

- Beck's bassist, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, and keyboardist, Roger Manning, have both performed and recorded with Air as well.
- A few years after this, in 2001, Beck contributed vocals to Air's album, 10,000 Hz. Legend. He performs on the songs "The Vagabond" and "Don't Be Light."
- "Sex kino" is a term for a strip club/brothel in Europe.
