Lyrics:In The Eyes Of The Lord [Version (a)]:
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
Stupid things you do for no reason make it hard, make it hard
Well you lost your mind somehow, but you're back, you're back again
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
Friends of mine died through their eyes, well they don't see, they don't see
The misery they spread around the room, they are done, they are done
It's better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
I smoked my cigarettes and cried and I cried through the night
The foolish way I walk upon my hands, I'll never make it, I'll never reach the other side
Better to be dumb than be done in the eyes of the Lord
The Song:"In The Eyes Of The Lord" is a somber tune, built on perhaps an accordion? It is kind of an odd picture, imagining Beck recording this song. I see him alone in a room, playing an accordion and singing into a tape late at night, making up verse after verse. Is it a grand accomplishment? Not really. Will he ever play it again? Probably not. Does he remember it? I doubt it. But making sounds and songs is what Beck does best. And this is not a bad one.
