Lyrics:Possession Island [Version (a)]:
I stand and look out on the dark lake
Where the moon is rising
And the hydrofoils are coming back in
From the past in silence
Where things, they don't exist
And we're all in this together till the end
Where the pearly gates remain open
And welcome me home
'Cause the time I came to California, I died
At the hands of the ghosting queen
Where things, they don't exist
And we're all in this together till the end
Till the end
Evermore
Should I ask you for forgiveness
And open my heart?
If I say these words, will you listen
Or leave me here in the dark?
Where things, they don't exist
And we're all in this together till the end
Till the end
Where things, they don't exist
And we're all in this together till the end
Till the end
The Song:"Possession Island" is a song from Gorillaz 2023 album,
Cracker Island. Beck features on the song, and is a co-writer. It is his second released collaboration with Gorillaz, after "Valley of the Pagans." (There's rumors of a few others that haven't been released.)
It is a quieter Gorillaz song, a more contemplative track of piano and strings and a nice melody. Beck just sings harmony behind Albarn. Beck's producer and friend Greg Kurstin plays most of the instruments on the song, as well.

April 19, 2023Beck joined Gorillaz at their Los Angeles gig in September 2022, and they debuted "Possession Island" on stage, months before the song was released.
