The Paisley Experience [Version (a)]:

["Raspberry Beret"]

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I lived too leisurely
Seems that I was busy doing something, something close to nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, woo, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door
She wore a raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
If it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
It was a raspberry beret
I think I love her

["When Doves Cry"]

Dig, if you will, a picture
Of you and I engaged in a kiss
The sweat of your body covers me
Can you, my darling, can you picture this?

How can you just leave me standing?
Alone in a world that's so cold
Maybe I'm just too demanding
Maybe I'm just like my father, too bold
Maybe you're just like my mother
She's never satisfied (she's never satisfied)
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like when doves cry

Don't have to be beautiful to turn me on
I just need your body, baby, from dusk 'til dawn
You don't need experience to turn me out
You just leave it all up to me
I'm gonna show you what it's all about

You don't have to be rich to be my girl
You don't have to be cool to rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your kiss

I was dreamin' when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray
When I woke up this mornin'
Could've sworn it was judgment day
The sky was all purple
There were people runnin' everywhere
Tryin' to run from my destruction
You know I didn't even care

Say say two thousand zero zero party over, oops, out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's nineteen ninety-nine

Two thousand zero zero party over, oops, out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's nineteen ninety-nine

Don't you want to go?
The Song:

In fall of 2019, Beck stopped in at Prince's studio, Paisley Park, to make some recordings. They were released exclusively on Amazon Music as the Paisley Park Sessions.

He released new recordings of "Where It's At" and "Up All Night" and this, "The Paisley Experience," a 5.5 minute medley of Prince covers: "Raspberry Beret," "When Doves Cry," "Kiss," and "1999" --- all of which were already on this site. (Beck has covered all of them to different degrees over the years, from full on versions to one or two-line adlib references.)
