Lyrics:Yer Blues [Version (a)]:
from July 27 2013 version
Yes I'm lonely, wanna die
Yes I'm lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
In the morning, I wanna die
In the evening, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
My mother was of the sky
My father was of the earth
And I am of the universe
And you know what it's worth
Yes I'm lonely, gonna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
The eagle picks my eyes
Worm he licks my bones
Feels so suicidal
Just like Dylan's Mr. Jones
Lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
The eagle picks my eyes
Worm he licks my bones
Feels so suicidal
Even hate my rock and roll
Lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
Yes I'm lonely
Wanna die
Yes I'm lonely
Wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Girl you know the reason why
The Song:"Yer Blues" is a Beatles song by John Lennon, found on their 1968 album,
The Beatles.
In 2013, Wilco formed a touring festival with Bob Dylan and My Morning Jacket. At one of the shows, My Morning Jacket was not able to be there, so Beck filled in as an alternate opener.
After playing his set, Beck would come out and join Wilco during theirs on five songs. John Lennon's son, Sean, also joined them for two Beatles covers, no less, including singing lead and playing guitar on a sterling "Yer Blues." (A song which mentions Bob Dylan too.)
Beck added some superb harmonica to the "Yer Blues." It is cool to hear him play that instrument on a different-than-usual song. But really, the whole band and especially Sean nail this. Their version is rowdy, dirty, amazing (just like the original).
