Lyrics:
Michelangelo Antonioni [Version (a)]:

A sight of perfect silence
An empty corner
A page without a word
A letter being written on a torso
Of marble and thin vapor
Oh love love
Uselessly open window

A sight of perfect silence
An empty corner
A page without a word
A letter being written on a torso
Of marble and thin vapor
Oh love love
Uselessly open window

The Song:

Way back in 2001, Beck was on KCRW and got to play DJ for a little bit. Among the tunes he spun, was Caetano Veloso's "Michelangelo Antonioni." I don't know much about the song, or why Veloso wrote about him, but Antonioni himself was a fairly popular film director in the '60s. Veloso's song is not a typical tropicalia song, instead Veloso singing beautifully in Italian over some strings.

Then in 2012, there was a tribute cd arranged for Veloso. Beck, as we all know by now, is a huge fan, and he put together a cover of this song for it. The lyrics have been adapted into English, and it sounds beautiful.

Beck and Veloso have worked together in a live capacity a couple of times: Beck appeared at a Veloso concert once and duetted a couple of times, and as well at a museum charity concert. Beck is a HUGE fan.
