Lyrics:
Wild Life [Version (a)]:

Take one step
Out the door
Look around
For a whole lot more
Off in the distance
Fire burn bright
We make decisions
That's what we do
Wild life
Wild life
When it's bad
It ain't bad enough

I'll be your one
Your one and only
Like animals
Locked in the zoo
You can give me freedom
Day and night
No one to tell me
What to do
Wild life
Wild life
When it's bad
It ain't bad enough

I got to learn
Some respect
That's what I have
I have for you
Motivation
It comes and goes
But the questions
They stay alive
Wild life
Wild life
When it's bad
It ain't bad enough

Take one step
Out the door
Look around
For a whole lot more
Take one step
Out the door
Look around
For a whole lot more
Off in the distance
Fire burn bright
We make decisions
That's what we do
That's what we do
That's what we do
That's what we do

Take one step
Out the door
Look around
For a whole lot more
Off in the distance
Fire burn bright
We make decisions
That's what we

The Song:

"Wild Life" can originally be found on the INXS album, Kick. Beck and his fourth Record Club project covered the album in its entirety. This Record Club was done with the band Liars, the guitarist from Os Mutantes, St. Vincent (Annie Clark and her keyboardist), and Brian LeBarton. (Sergio from Os Mutantes does not seem to appear on this track, however.)

The original INXS version of the song is an interesting, laidback song, with semi-spoken vocals and no real chorus. The lack of drama is what makes it somewhat dramatic, if that's possible.

Beck's Record Club keep it chill, and fairly similar, but modernize it a bit with deep, rolling drums and lots of electric guitar ambiance. Beck contributes some of the electric guitar, and some minor back-up vocals.
