Notes:
This show was put together quickly as a benefit for the tsunami victims in south Asia.
The show started with Will Ferrell lipsyncing Coldplay. Then Josh Homme played a 15-minute acoustic set, with Dave Grohl joining him on a song. Then Eddie Vedder did five songs. Chris Rock did some stand-up, leading into a short set by Dave Grohl.
Tenacious D then comes out and introduce Beck, who in this show of huge rock stars, played some sad acoustic folk music. During "Lost Cause," Will Ferrell comes out in a red unitard and performs an interpretive dance of the song. Beck stops and tells him it's a personal song and that he's baring himself up there. Will apologizes and agrees to keep his distance. Beck starts again. So does Will, who humps Beck's pump organ.
Beck then plays "Lonesome Tears" on the pump organ/harmonium.
Then there was a Tenacious D set, before a final supergroup superjam:
Beck played electric guitar on a final jam that included Jack Black on vocals and guitar, Kyle Gass on guitar, Dave Grohl on drums, Josh Homme on bass, Eddie Vedder on electric guitar and vocals, and (of course) Will Ferrell on cowbell. The jam consisted of covers of The Chamber Brothers' "Time", The Byrds' "So You Want to be a Rock and Roll Star", and Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times".
