Notes:
Show #13 of the Sea Change tours. Show #13 of the Sea Change Warm Up Tour, with Smokey Hormel.
"Release The Bats" is a thing Beck sing-speaks while noodling on his acoustic guitar. It's not really a story, from what I can tell, but it's about bats.; Rare "Jack-ass" for this tour, in that Smokey joins Beck on it.; Beck plays a short version of the Stooges' "No Fun" on his celeste. Not a full cover, but the only time he's played it.; "Side of the Road" kind of falls apart in the middle.; "Songs That Go Like This" was when Beck sat at his piano, played a cliched pop riff, and then started singing about cliched pop songs. He then starts talking about cottage cheese ceilings and Japan.; "Already Dead" also falls apart, Beck laughs and stops for a bit, and then picks up where they left off.; After "Already Dead," Beck says "I want to do something different." Someone requests "MTV Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack," so he improvises a song all about "MTV" instead (among other things).; "Back Streets of Austin" is Beck's conscious effort to improvise a musical about the first time he went to Austin. It's about 15 minutes long.; Rare August show without Roland, the drum machine!;
