Pink Moon [Version (a)]:

I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
None of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
A pink pink pink pink
It's a pink moon
Pink pink pink
It's a pink moon

I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
None of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
Pink pink pink pink
It's a pink moon
Pink pink pink pink pink
It's a pink moon

The Song:

Nick Drake was long cited as one of the more obvious influences on Beck, especially on Sea Change. Then in December of 2005, Beck put up three different Nick Drake covers from his album Pink Moon on his website (including "Which Will" and "Parasite").

"Pink Moon" itself is Drake's most famous song, a sparse, timeless folk tune. Beck builds a looser, atmospheric recording, while staying faithful to the minimal beauty.

Brian Lebarton appears on "Parasite," but I believe this one might be all Beck. Could be wrong on that.

One profile explained that Beck was "keen to understand how some of his favorite Drake songs were made," so he went to work recreating them, learning how they work. Since he didn't know what to do with the final results, he put them on beck.com. Thanks Beck!

(I also believe that some of this reconstruction and deep dive into the inner workings of Drake songs influenced some of Morning Phase, which is more Drake-y than the oft-compared Sea Change.)
