Lyrics:SA-5 [Version (a)]:
Tell me where you want me to go
If I'm gone, then I'll get there soon
Tell me where you want me to be
If I've been there split in two
Tell me what you want me to say
Then I'll put my tongue away
Tell me what you want me to see
With my eyes so grizzly grey
You're insane
Got no name
Your lion's tame
It's all the same
Got no brain
The lion's tame
Tell me where you want me to go
If I'm gone, then I'll get there soon
Tell me what you want me to be
If I've been there split in two
You're insane
Got no name
The lion's tame
It's all the same
Got no brain
Lion's tame
The Song:This recording was released as a b-side for "
Deadweight" in 1997. It was probably written, even recorded, long before that. Beck's loosely strung guitar strumming is reminiscent of his early folk tunes, while the lyrics sound like his young work. They are entertaining enough, but the repetition is slightly disappointing - one longs for another verse! Of course, I don't imagine a whole lot of effort was put into the song. Beck is the only musician on the track -- two vocals, acoustic guitar, and drum machine (the SA-5). It sounds as if it was finished in an hour or two. Don't get me wrong...that's definitely the appeal of the track! There is an exuberance to the performance, and even the lyrics.
