Lyrics:Little Hands [Version (a)]:
Check
This is a Christmas song
Little hands clapping
Children are laughing
Little hands clapping
All over the world
Piper is piping
Drummers are drumming
Little hands clapping
All over the world
Come let us meet them
Come let us greet them
Little hands clapping
Children are sharing
Little loves loving
All the little boys and girls
The children are singing
The truths they are bringing
Freedom is ringing
All around the world
Come let us meet them
Come let us greet them
Little hands clapping
Children are caring
Piper is piping
All over the world
Out in the street
The sick that you meet
How many friends
Do you call your own?
Yes, we will meet them
Come let us greet them
Yes, we will greet them
Little Hands (live) [Version (b)]:
[From February 26, 2002 version]
Little hands clapping, children are laughing
Little hands clapping all over the world
Pipers are piping, drummers are drumming
Little hands clapping all over the world
Little hands clapping, children are sharing
Little hands clapping all over the world
Children are singing truths that they're bringing
Freedom is ringing all over the world
Come let us meet there
Come let us greet there
Little hands clapping, children are travelling
Piper is calling all over the world
Out in the street, face that you meet
How many friends do you call your own?
Come let us meet there
Come let us greet there
Little hands clasping, truth that they're grasping
A world with no pain for one and all
And they are learning, the souls they are yearning
A nice to place to play and no place to fall
Come let us meet there
Come let us greet there
Come come let us meet there
The Song:"Little Hands" is a song originally found on Skip Spence's album,
Oar. Beautiful, isn't it? Beck played this song live once in 2002.
Then in June 2009, Beck covered the entirety of
Oar for his Record Club. This was done with Wilco, Feist, Jamie Lidell, and Brian LeBarton. The video shows them playing acoustic guitars in a busy studio, which definitely suits the singalong feelgood nature of the tune.
Live:Played live once:
February 26, 2002Beck played a version of "Little Hands" on February 26, 2002. It was a benefit show, and he shared the bill with Eddie Vedder and Mike Ness. During Beck's set, Vedder came out and sang and played guitar with Beck on two songs, "Little Hands" and "
Evil Things." Vedder was returning the favor for Beck singing "
Sleepless Nights" with him during his set. Anyway, the "Little Hands" is pretty sharp. Beck's voice is a little bit overshadowed by Vedder's, which isn't the case on their other duets.
Notes:
- The beautiful lyrics of Skip's original
Little hands clapping, children are laughing
Little hands clapping all over the world
Piper is piping, drummers are drumming
Little hands clapping all over the world
Little hands clapping, children are ??
Little hands clapping, all the boys and girls
Children are singing, rules that they're bringing
Freedom is ringing all around the world
Come, let us meet there
Yes, we will meet there
Little hands clapping, children are ??
Piper is calling all over the world
Out in the street, the sick that you meet
How many friends do you call your own?
Come, let us meet there
Yes, we will meet there
Children are clapping, children are ??
Children are ?? breakfast and rules
Little hands glaring, little hands sharing
The old one ??? in the county jewels
Come, let us meet there
Yes, we will meet there
Little hands clapping, children are happy
Little hands loving all around the world
Little hands grasping, truth they are grasping
A world with no pain for one and all
Hymn they are learning, souls they are yearning
A nice to place to play and no place to fall
Come, let us meet there
Yes, we will meet there
