Lyrics:
Goin' Back [Version (a)]:

I think I'm goin' back to the things I learned so well in my youth
I think I'm returning to those days when I was young enough to know the truth
Now there are no games to only pass the time
No more electric trains, no more trees to climb
But thinking young and growing older is no sin
And I can play the game of life to win

I can recall the time when I wasn't ashamed to reach to a friend
Now I think I've got a lot more than just my toys to lend
Now there's more to do than watch my sailboat glide
And every day can be a magic carpet ride
A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I'm goin' back

Now there's more to do than watch my sailboat glide
Every day can be a magic carpet ride
A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I'm goin' back

A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I'm goin' back

The Song:

"Goin' Back" is a song from the '60s that has been covered by many different artists. It was originally written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. The first version/hit was by Dusty Springfield, and a year later, The Byrds also covered it.

In 2015, Beck appeared at a show in LA that was a tribute to '60s-era Los Angeles folk rock. (There were actually two shows in one night.) He duetted with Jakob Dylan on two Byrds' songs, "Goin' Back" and "Bells Of Rhymney."

The tribute concert was a prelude to a 2016 release of a studio album of covers; we don't have confirmation yet, but presumably Beck will be on it, and quite possibly he recorded this.

UPDATE: The project finally found release in 2019, in which a documentary about the '60s Los Angeles music scene finally came out. Along with the film, a soundtrack similar to the 2015 concert was released. Beck did in fact record the two songs he did at the show as duets with Jakob Dylan, and both are on the soundtrack.

Their version of "Goin' Back" seems based on The Byrds' cover. Both Beck and Dylan sing lead.
