The Song:To make it feel even more authentic, Beck filled out his Song Reader book with fragments of songs, and even just made-up song titles. This is one of the titles, listed in
Ye Midnight Stars, a collection of "songs from the afterlife."
A lot of the song titles that fill out the book are references to actual old songs/sheet music, but most of the
Ye Midnight Stars titles are humorous looks at death, heaven, etc. "The Spite At The End Of The Tunnel" is a play on the phrase "light at the end of the tunnel," which usually is a metaphor for heaven.
