Live Versions:
  1. After The Gold Rush
    Credits
    Beck Hansen: Guitar (Acoustic), Vocals

Lyrics:
After The Gold Rush [Live version (a)]:

(from Beck's live version)

Well I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming
Saying something about a queen
There were peasants singing and drummers drumming
And the archers split the tree
There was a fanfare blowing to the sun
That was floating on the breeze
Look at mother nature on the run in the 1970s

I was lying in a burned-out basement
With a full moon in my eyes
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst through the sky
...
And I felt like getting high
Well I was thinking about what a friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie
I was thinking about what a friend had said
I was thinking it was a lie

The Song:

Beck, at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco in 2012, performed before Neil Young, the headliner. And so to commemorate the situation, he played a short solo acoustic version of "After The Gold Rush," one of Neil's more famous songs.

(The night before Beck and his band had done "Barstool Blues.")

Live:

Played live once:
August 10, 2012

Only performed the one time so far. And here, you can watch it! It seems to have missed the beginning, and Beck only tries the first two verses of the song. But it's cool--Neil's original is on piano mainly, and Beck flips it to acoustic guitar.

Notes:
Here are the lyrics and Neil Young's original:

And I felt like getting high

I was hoping it was a lie
Thinking about what a friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie

Well I dreamed I saw the silver spaceships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun
There were children crying and colors flying
All around the chosen ones
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun
Flying mother nature's silver seed
To a new home in the sun
Flying mother nature's silver seed
To a new home in the sun
