Lyrics:
Never Tear Us Apart [Version (a)]:

Don't ask me what you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious heart

I, I was standing and you were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart

We could live for a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears

I told you that we could fly
We could all have wings
But some of us don't know why

I, I was standing and you were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us apart

I was standing, you were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us apart

Oh I, I was standing, you were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us apart

The Song:

"Never Tear Us Apart" is one of the more famous songs on INXS' album, Kick. Beck and his fourth Record Club covered the album in its entirety.

The original INXS track is a fairly dramatic love song, based around some throbbing 80s synthesizer. The Record Club play it fairly faithfully, but replace the synths with violin. They also replace the sax solo with a violin burst.

As Beck.com described it, "Annie from St. Vincent takes lead vocal this week and gives everybody the chills with her one take rendition of the album’s big hit ballad." Annie described it herself as "I'm doing my best Michael Hutchence meets James Hetfield impression."
