Lyrics:
Big Drift [Version (a)]:

Caverns of empty space
No bones can keep their shape
No water and no flames
But smoke as black as lace

Go down, ironsides
Go down, golden ghost
So long, battle bones
I've seen it come to only dust

No black, only grey
We come or come what may
Break out of harm's way
Pink washed the skies away

Beaches combing for the ring
Reaches bones and copper string
All that's left from all you bring
Keeps me searchin' through your things
Big Drift 1982 (Krikor remix) [Version (b)]:

Caverns of empty space
No bones can keep their shape
No water and no flames
But smoke as black as lace

Go down, ironsides
Go down, golden ghost
So long, battle bones
I've seen it come to only dust

No black, only grey
We come or come what may
Break out of harm's way
Pink washed the skies away

Beaches combing for the ring
Reaches bones and copper string
All that's left from all you bring
Keeps me searchin' through your things

The Song:

"Big Drift" can be found on Jamie Lidell's 2010 album Compass. Beck appeared throughout the album, and co-produced some of the songs (it is unknown which ones exactly he produced). "Big Drift" is one of the two songs on the album for which Beck received a cowriter credit. I do not know the extent or nature of his contributions to the songwriting. Beck also sings backup vocals as well (probably in that bridge section in the middle, but mostly fairly invisible).

This is a pretty phenomenal recording, too, I should add. If Beck produced it, man, it's great. A very moody, slow burn of a song, "Big Drift" has a lot of things going on in it, while maintaining its own simplicity and self. There is also something quite menacing about it.
